Domingos: Crafting Innovation and Creativity

At Yungo, the drive for innovation and creativity runs deep. Domingos, one of our talented engineers, embodies this spirit. From a young age, he has been fascinated by the unusual hobby of miniature painting. What started as a hobby soon turned into a journey of self-learning and skill-building.

Domingos fascination with miniatures pushed him to master various tools and technologies. He taught himself to design intricate miniatures using 3D modeling software, operate 3D printers to make the miniatures a reality, and even develop an app to visualize some of these models in AR. This self-driven learning process not only sharpened his technical skills but also opened up his creativity.

One of Domingos's most notable projects was the 'Yungomons,' a playful combination of Yungo and Pokémon, which he brought to life for a team-building event in the Netherlands. At Allinq’s 60th anniversary, knowing it to be a family event, Yungo wanted to create something that could be handed out to the little ones attending. The idea came about to create Telco-inspired Pokémon and their respective cards to gift to the children of the employees’ families. Domingos was fully on board with the challenge and designed six unique Yungomons and made illustrations and cards for them. However, he decided not to be content with just that and took the idea one step further. He modeled the creatures in 3D and created an app that would scan a QR-code and bring them to life in augmented reality. Yungomons were a success at the event and have now become a familiar sight in other Yungo activities. They may even make an appearance in a future painting workshop during a team building activity. Domingos hopes that these initiatives encourage more of his colleagues to get creative and inspire them to explore and learn new tools and technologies.
