Enhancing Connectivity in the Czech Republic: A Comprehensive Data-Driven Approach to Identifying and Addressing "White" Spots
Every year, the Czech Telecommunication Office undertakes the task of collecting comprehensive data from all Czech registered Internet Service Provider (ISP) operators. This data pertains to their current and planned coverage of Czech households. The collected information is then provided to the Ministry of Trade and Industry (MIT).
Our organization supports the MIT by offering data analysis services that facilitate the identification of "white" spot areas. These are regions lacking connectivity to next-generation access (NGA) networks. The identification of these "white" spots is crucial for planning and implementing subsidy programs aimed at improving connectivity.
Before the launch of any new subsidy program targeting these "white" spots, there is an essential phase of open discussion with the telecom industry sector. This discussion is conducted through a web portal administered by our organization.
An interactive map, which is integrated into this web portal, serves as a valuable tool during the open discussion phase. This map provides a visual representation of the coverage data, allowing stakeholders to easily identify areas in need of connectivity improvements. The interactive map is not only useful but also widely appreciated by all participants in the discussion.
This process ensures that subsidy programs are effectively targeted and that there is transparency and collaboration between the government and the telecom industry. The end goal is to enhance broadband access across the Czech Republic, particularly in underserved areas.
